Set in 1993, teenager Cameron Post is forced into conversion therapy centre by her conservative guardians, after being caught with another girl. The centre is run by the strict Dr. Lydia Marsh and her brother, Reverend Rick, whose treatment consists in repenting for feeling SSA ‘same sex attraction.’ At the centre Cameron befriends fellow misfits Jane and Adam, establishing their own new family to deal with the surroundings.
