This potent coming-of-age story centres on 16-year-old Marieme, an African-French teenager living in a poor suburb in the outskirts of Paris.

Struggling academically and living in a suffocating household with her physically abusive brother, a chance of escape and comaraderie is found in a local girl gang, led by confident Lady. Despite committing crimes, the young girls love and support for one another helps Marieme grow into herself, but when things escalate and her situation worsens, Marieme, now crowned “Vic” must ultimately face a decision on who she wants to become.
