Filmmaker Ken Wardrop drew inspiration from his own mother to make this award-winning documentary in which 70 women from the rural Midlands speak about their relationship to the men in their lives. Allowing them to speak openly and naturally with their own kitchens as backdrop, the film offers an insight into daily Irish life and love through the decades that is both heart-warming and quietly affecting. That none of the women’s careers or achievements are mentioned is beside the point of the film, which may be rose tinted but is nevertheless true to life.
